    Sim, a luz pode aproximar-se de tal forma de um buraco negro que fica de certa forma aprisionada em sua órbita devido à atracção gravitacional, ou dito de outra forma, devido à curvatura do espaço-tempo. A distância é exactamente r = 3GM/c^2 ou 1.5 vezes o raio de Schwarzschield. À superfície à volta do buraco negro que tem este raio chama-se, esfera do fotão.
